After a long anticipated wait for the citizens of Madawaska, the "big year" has finally arrived. 2014 is a special year for the Acadian Festival, and thousands are expected to visit the area. With the World Acadian Congress taking place, over a hundred Acadian families are invited to attend the events, and join in a crazy cultural celebration.
The Acadian people demonstrate hard work and pride. From honorable Acadian walkways, to friendly community support, the small town of Madawaska is glowing with spirit and energy.
The big events, including the Tintamarre (noise-making parade), the Grand Spectacle Music Show, and the fireworks display, will begin tonight at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Madawaska. These events will showcase the coming together of a culture. Families from parts of New Brunswick, Ontario, Québec, Maine, and other states, will celebrate a similar history despite being miles apart, geographically.
