Application Inspiration

Are you thinking about applying to be the next Young & Free Maine Spokester but haven’t yet been inspired? I completely understand. Even Spokesters who have been doing the job for months need a little inspiration to spark that light bulb moment every now and then.

Over the course of this week I’ll bring you tips, tricks and of course, inspiration to get that Spokester Application ready by May 24th at 3 p.m. Time is running out and you don’t want to miss the chance to land the coolest job ever.

Who are YOU?

At the very core, there is something that makes you, you. When friends or family describe you, what do they say? What makes you unique? You could talk about your hobbies, your past adventures, your pets, your talents, your family, your education… Anything that you believe defines who you are as a person. Be comfortable showing us who you really area, because being yourself is a very important part of being the Young & Free Maine Spokester.

What are you passionate about?

I love baking and going to concerts. I talk about those things every week on and social media. Are you passionate about something? Talk about it! It’s easy to talk about something you love, and it’ll give everyone an idea of what you might blog about when you’re the Young & Free Maine Spokester.

What is your experience with CUs?

Here’s a not-so-secret fact: As Spokester, you’ll be representing a whole state of incredible credit unions. What is your experience with CUs? It doesn’t matter if you’re a long time member or a first time account holder. Some Spokesters were even employees of big banks before they landed a job representing CUs. If you want to talk about your experience with CUs in your application video, go for it!

What makes you the best person for the job?

Your Spokester application video, along with your sample blog, are the best ways to show the Young & Free Maine team why you are Spokester material and why you should move on to the next round of interviews. Tell us what sets you apart from all other applicants. Creative? Special skills? Professional experience? Super fun personality? If you think it makes you special, talk about it.

Be authentic, be original, be you

This is not a comprehensive list. This is not a checklist of requirements. You don’t even have to consider including these ideas if you don’t want to! These are just to get you thinking about what you might or could say in your Spokester app video. It’s important to stay original and authentic as you put your application together. You can search previous application videos on YouTube, but do you really want to copy what’s been done before? Probably not. Use these ideas only as inspiration, not as strict guidelines. If everyone included everything in this blog as part of their video, no one would stand out! Keep that in mind as you move forward.

Best of luck as you fire up those cameras and start rolling on your videos. All applications are due by May 24th at 3 p.m. You can find the application on the Search Page. Just click the banner below!
