What’s up Bex’Blog readers??? Its been a while since I’ve gotten a chance to sit down and write. Work has been slightly insane (There’s no rest for the fulltime beverage server!) and not having a car has made life a little complicated.
So my first topic today is a shout out to the people in my life who have helped support me through this car-less nightmare. Having people you can count on in your life is really important, and I am incredibly lucky to have such amazing friends, family and coworkers. I love all of you SO MUCH and am beyond thankful for the rides you’ve been giving me all over Bangor and the state of Maine ;)
Second - I wanna talk a little bit about pugs, my obsession with them, and how they have shaped me into the pug loving girl I am today.
My whole childhood I wanted a dog more than anything. I finally got one when I was in 5th grade - A lab mix named Shadow. She was my world and my best friend. However, when I was 16, I had a falling out with my parents. My dad and brother had developed allergies to the dog, and they wanted to get rid of her. I refused to let that happen, and one night there was a huge fight. I ended up getting kicked out of the house and my parents brought Shadow to a local shelter. I never saw my dog again.
When I moved to college, I made myself a promise that as soon as I had my own place, I would get myself a dog. I don’t do well living on my own and constantly need companionship. But how my pug obsession got started, I will never know. My desire to own a dog eventually turned into a need to own a pug. And when I was 19, I made that happen. Pugs are probably my favorite thing in the world. Love them or hate ‘em, I think they’re the cutest funniest animals out there. And on August 21, 2009 Ellie Juniper was born. She was a chubby little black pug who is now the love of my life. She will be 2 yrs old this summer, and I love her to pieces. In fact, I love her so much, I’ve decided to add another bundle of wrinkly joy to the family. Just 4 and a half weeks ago Sheldon Dexter was born. I will be bringing him home on June 22. We’re all very excited to have another puppy in the family :)
So that’s my life right now. I’ve spent hours everyday looking online for cars and for small car loans. I’m also trying to find a new apartment that has windows for an AC (My apt. was 85 degrees yesterday! It felt like an oven!!!) And I’ve spent a lot of time in the alternate universe what we call Hollywood Slots bringing thirsty people their diet cokes and ginger ales. It’s been fun, but stressful. I’m very much looking forward to my next couple of days off so I can get out and campaign for Young&FreeME!
