Friends, Food and Fun
There's no place like home when it's cold outside, so why not have some friends over and celebrate in the comfort of your own place? You'll save money and there's no stressing about food, transportation or lodging. Here are some ideas to make your last-minute party planning a breeze.
Do you want a glitz and glam evening? Or are you looking for something more comfy and cozy? I'm always looking for an excuse to wear a cute dress, so my friends and I usually start the evening with a theme for dressing up. Black and white? Bringing classy back? Must wear glitter? It's up to you. Tell your pals to bring some comfy clothes to change into, too. You'll want a pair of sweatpants after diving into all the delicious snacks you'll be eating.
Appetizers are king. My go-to dish for any party is my mother's Tomato Pesto Spread.
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 jar pre-made pesto (Classico is my favorite)
1 pkg. cherry tomatoes, sliced
1 French baguette
Spread cream cheese on the bottom of a shallow dish or plate. Top with a layer of pesto and sliced cherry tomatoes. Serve with thin slices of French baguette.
Gourmet look and taste without the effort or the price tag!
Tune in to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest to watch your favorite musical artists and the famous ball drop in New York City without leaving your living room.
Entertain yourselves with interactive games like Apples to Apples, Taboo or a classic game of charades.
As for me, I'll be surrounding myself with family, friends and food tonight. It's the perfect way to end a great year and start a new one.
Enjoy and be safe!
