It's all encompassing word. No one wants to hear it or be associated with it. But failure is not all it's cracked up to be.
Fear of failure is what can push us and give us motivation or it can hinder us from attempting something new. If you're afraid to fail you might miss out on a better opportunity.
You don't know if you don't try. And going down an uncertain road (that you fear may lead to failure) doesn't mean it's going to have one destination.
Failure can lead to great ideas, new opportunities, and great learning experiences.
Check out the video below for a fresh perspective on failure!
Earlier this week I experienced failure at my gym. I was trying my best to do pull ups. Each time I jumped and grabbed the bar, my arms failed to pull me up. But I kept on trying and returning to the pull up bar. Each time without success.
And you know what happened next? Someone came over to help me. A man in his late 40s came over and helped me by assisting my feet with his hands which gave me the leverage I needed to put my chin over the bar.
The man who came to my assistance said to me, "if I just help you a little that's all it will take for your muscle memory to pull you up next time."
Although my failure might seem small and meaningless to some, it was important to me. And no one judged me for failing. I was generously helped so I could succeed.
As much as YOU are afraid to fail, think of when others have failed around you. I'm sure you've lent a helping hand or offered support. Not shaming them for failing.
We put so much pressure on this word FAILURE, but what it really means is that you tried something.
