Well, today was another crazy day filled with a financial fitness fair in Lewiston. Once again, I had a lovely time meeting with the high school seniors about their lives when they turn 22. For some reason, some people still think they are going to be making $100k a year right out of college (and you may...but it hasn't happened to me yet) but I try to remind them that it's not their lives at 30. It's them right out of college. Anyway, I never had any fitness fairs to attend when I was in high school, which makes me sad. One of the things I do wish I understood more, but haven't had a chance to look into stock trading as much. Wouldn't it be nice to have a mock stock trading setup where you could trade and buy as you please and it would be okay if you made massive mistakes? It would kind of be like the financial fitness fairs, but geared more towards people who would need/want investments. Well, Yahoo! actually came up with something pretty cool called Fantasy Finance, so I figured I'd share it with you!
The game essentially goes like this. You start off with 100 thousand dollars (play money) and you have to invest your money in at least three stocks and no more than 10. Not only that, but there are weekly prizes of one thousand dollars per week and a grand prize of fifty grand in May! Now, I don't know about you, but I could use a little extra spending cash! There are some rules and regulations you must abide by, but I think this is a really great idea from Yahoo! to let people try their hand at the stock market and learning more about buying, trading and selling. I haven't started my fantasy portfolio yet, but I just may have to try my hand at it! Check it out!
