This is a call to action!
The holidays are upon us and soon we'll be surrounded by family, friends, and food. It's important to remember that for some, food is hard enough to put on the table as it is.
Since 2002, Brenda Davis has been walking across Maine this time every year to raise awareness and money to end hunger in Maine. Her noble efforts combined with the community support of credit unions in Maine, have lead to a way to raise awareness and money to end hunger in Maine.
The Walk will visit every county in Maine, encompass 750-800 miles on foot (nearly 1,800 combined by car and foot), 80 communities and 88 credit union locations. For each credit union location she visits, a donation is given to the cause of Ending Hunger in Maine. For more detailed information on her walk, click here.
On Wednesday, December 4th we need your help!
I am asking you to join me in welcoming Brenda to her final destination at the Bangor Federal Credit Union at 339 Hogan Road in Bangor, ME.
All are invited to join Young & Free in a food chain welcoming Brenda as she crosses the finish line on Wednesday, December 4th. We’ll meet at 10:30 a.m. to prepare for her arrival at 11:00 a.m.
Please bring a nonperishable food item – these will be passed down the “chain” of people and collected for Crossroads Ministries, Brenda’s Food Pantry.
I also encourage you to spread the word on Facebook, and use the hashtag #endhunger followed by #maine in your Twitter feed!
I hope to see you Wednesday, December 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bangor FCU!
See you there!
