There are a few foods in life that can pretty much make any day better. Peanut butter is one of them and chocolate is another. Put them both together...oh man, you've got something special going on! You can pair them with almost anything and it will improve the taste. Today, we will not be talking about those tasty treats, but a different comfort food that is very near and dear to my heart. One of my favorite snacks of all time is bacon. Bacon is something that is amazingly versatile and can spice up (or ham up?) most any recipe. Today, I will share with you some of my favorite things to do with bacon, some great and funky recipes and also show you some fun things that people have done with bacon (like baconnaise...which is ironically vegetarian). Here we go!
Well the first thing you can do with bacon is simply cook it and add it to your favorite breakfast treats. It acts as a lovely side dish to eggs, oatmeal, pancakes or any other breakfast treat. I'm a fan of bacon that is a little on the chewy side and not crispy side with breakfast. Sometimes I'll even switch to turkey bacon if I am feeling especially chunky. For now...it's the holidays and I don't think it's going to make a world of difference one way or another. My mother likes to add crispy bacon to her potato salad. Nothing makes potato salad better than some nice crispy bacon to flavor it up! Now maybe if we switched the mayonnaise with baconnaise we'd have something really special! So what else can you do with bacon? Well, I did some research and found some super sweet recipes...which are:
My mouth is already watering. I found this little gem, and it only involves three ingredients. Take Bacon (duh) light brown sugar and and some finely ground black pepper. Combine all of them together and make sure the raw bacon is coated fully with the brown sugar. Bake and wait until the bacon is crispy and the brown sugar is melted and carmelized. In just a short time, you'll have some of the tastiest bacon you have ever had. WOO!
Bacon and Peanut Butter Cookies
There are some days when you come home and really need the ultimate comfort food. I found an amazing recipe that will probably put you in a food coma and may clog your articles. May I present to you, the Bacon and Peanut Butter Cookie! I would not mind chowing down on this bad boy after a hard day's work. Thankfully, I haven't ever had any mentally draining days yet so I may hold off on these until a later date.
Aaaand here are some products I have found that make bacon the star!
Want to end your day with the smell of fresh cooked bacon, but don't have any in the fridge? Never fear! This little baby will solve all your problems. All you have to do is light the candle and let the pork fumes fill your house with gladness. Imagine having guests over, and when they open the door, the essence of bacon hits them like a punch in the face. Winning!
I tried rubbing bacon on myself one day because I felt it would make me smell amazing (I made that up...I never tried that). Instead of rubbing greasy bacon on yourself, try this bacon soap instead. You get the bacon smell without all of the greasiness! "What's that haunting aroma honey? You smell delectable!" "Oh that? That's my new bacon soap. Do you like it?" Yes...yes you do.
Yeah, this one sounds a little crazy, but if you really want the full bacon smell all day, you can buy some bacon cologne. It's a perfect way to walk out of your house with pride. Some people prefer Este Lauder. Others prefer Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds. I prefer Fargginay, the bacon cologne.
So there you have it! Lots of bacon favorites for you to try!
