Tasty Thursday: Food Bands

One of my fondest memories of college was going to my friends house and having a food party. Our only stipulation was that we had to bring food that was named after bands or songs. Sound difficult? It was actually much easier than you would think. There are so many bands out there with tasty names and tasty tunes. It's a whole load of tastiness! What are some of my favorite bands and songs inspired by food? Well....

Cake is probably one of my favorite bands hailing from the 90s. With songs like Shaddow Stabbing and The Distance, Cake takes music to a place that few other bands have. Their songs have funky bass riffs and crazy spoken word songs. I haven't met too many Cake songs I haven't liked. Likewise, I haven't really ever met a cake I don't like. Pair it with some ice cream and you've got something special going on. Here's a tasty molten lava cake recipe!

Meat Loaf

I have to be honest when I say I didn't and don't listen to much Meat Loaf. Similarly, I don't eat much meat loaf either (although I do like myself a good meat loaf sandwich now and again). Meat Loaf was a pretty well known singer of the 70s and according to articles I have read, one of his most famous songs was Two Out of Three Ain't Bad. Beats me...I had never heard of it, but I'm sure some of you have! If you haven't heard of the singer, you have definitely eaten it at least once in your life...and if you haven't here's a recipe!

With the band made up with some of the masterminds of their time (Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce), Cream was created and came out with many tasty licks. One of their most famous songs was Sunshine of Your Love, which I'm pretty sure is played by many pep bands in high school gymnasiums across the country. I'd give you a recipe for cream, but I'm pretty sure the only step is to grab a cow and milk it...I could be wrong.

Let's be honest, there are many more bands and songs out there with food references. I didn't touch the Black Eyed Peas. I didn't talk about the songs American Pie or Peaches. There are many different food bands and songs out there which are just ripe with musical geniuses! I am just waiting for a bacon band to come out. That would be amazing!

What do Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, B.O.B., Lupe Fiasco, OK GO, Atomic Tom, and maybe you have in common? Details tomorrow!
