Saying goodbye is never easy, but all good things must come to an end, right? I promised myself I wouldn't write a sappy, cliche-filled final post, but there's really no other way to do this. Today, my journey at the Young & Free Maine Spokester ends. It has been an incredible year.
It's so crazy to look back at my surprise video and think it was just one year ago that I was walking into by best friend's house, expecting a lasagna dinner, when a crowd of people yelled as I opened the door, "You got the job!" I was in shock. So in shock, that I shut the door and wouldn't walk back inside until my boyfriend nearly picked me up and carried me into the living room.
I couldn't believe that all these people where there for me. Friends, family and credit union staff, all crowded into my best friend's living room to celebrate my new job. I couldn't believe that I had been voted into the job. I couldn't believe that for the next year, I would get to do all of the things I love and have fun while doing it. I really had no idea how much my life would change by becoming the Young & Free Maine Spokester.
I wanted to leave you all with something profound, awe-inspiring, and earth-shattering. As it turns out, it's hard to write anything momentous when you're fighting tears and packing up The Green Machine one last time. All I have to say is thank you.
Thank you for this experience. I am forever changed for the better because of the experiences, challenges, and opportunities provided by Young & Free Maine. I have lifelong friends, valuable career skills, and a greater pride and love for my home state.
While I'm off to new adventures, new challenges, and new opportunities, Young & Free Maine will always hold a big, huge place in my heart.
So one last time, I'd like to repeat my favorite quote for you. It's a rule that I live by, and so far, I think it has served me well this year.
"Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're right." - Henry Ford
If you believe you can, you will.
Smile, dream, and achieve. Stay positive and use every day as a new opportunity to learn and grow.
Thank you, Young & Free Maine team, fans and supporters. I will be forever grateful for this experience.
