Looking back on television shows from the 1900's its almost laughable to think I was once captivated by the comedies and dramas produced for the youth. There are many television series I could reminisce about, but today I came across a Buzzfeed article titled 33 Best Forgotten Teen Shows of the '90s. Although I did not recognize many of them, a few took me down memory lane like Clueless, Kenan & Kal, Party of Five, Moesha, and Sister, Sister to name a few.
The show that struck me the most was the television series called The Secret World of Alex Mack. The series centered around seventh grader Alex Mack who developed magic powers after being exposed to a a top secret chemical when she was nearly hit by truck. Her powers included telekinesis, morphing, and the ability to transmit bolts of electricity through her fingertips. Does that trigger any memories of "SNICK" also know as Saturday Night Nickelodeon?
The show aired on Nickelodeon from 1994-1998. Alex's super powers took over the time slot Nickelodeon had previously reserved for Clarissa Explains It All starring Melissa Joan Hart.
Alex Mack was played by actress Larisa Oleynik who later went to play Bianca Stratford in 10 Things I Hate About You. According to Buzzfeed, she dated 10 Things I Hate About You costar Joseph Gordon-Levitt from 1999–2002. Now she is currently married to Ken Cosgrove on Mad Men.
