Talented artists, musicians and filmmakers will be exhibiting their artwork at the KahBang Festival beginning this weekend in Portland.
For those who are intrigued by a variety of art forms and unique perspectives, the Art Fest at the CTN and other venues in downtown Portland is open and free to the public on Friday and Saturday 12 - 5 p.m.
Julie Gray is an artist who will be featured in the festival. She works primarily in needlepoint, photography and video. She earned her BFA in Photography from Rhode Island School of Design in 2005, then later earned her Masters of Fine Arts in 2012 from Maine College of Art. In her work, she speaks about “the intangible subject of mortality…through symbolic means. Humor and kitsch in my photography, as well as the use of naïve, childhood craft materials help such weighty subject matter become accessible to the audience.”
