Workout Wednesday: Race for a reason


Over the weekend I ran my first 5k race since high school. I love being active and working out, but straight running is just not my thing.

However, I had a great time at the Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union's Run to End Hunger in Maine. The run went by quicker than I had anticipated and I made pretty good time!  I finished the 3.1 mile course in just under 27 minutes. 

I realized I actually do like running and it's way easier to run knowing there is a finish line. Running endlessly on a treadmill or the road makes me want to bang my head against a wall. However, running for a reason is so much better. 

If running to a finish line doesn't tickle your fancy enough, how about running to end hunger? Or raising money to fight cancer. Participating in road races are a great way to support a cause and put meaning behind your workouts!
