You Can Earn Rewards With A Credit Union Credit Card, Too

Credit cards have adopted a bad reputation. Unsuspecting customers have made the mistake of using their credit cards to the spending limit, and then consequently, became stuck with a maxed out card and lots of interest to pay in return.

However, a credit card, if used wisely can benefit you. Credit card companies want your business, and they offer you certain perks and benefits. If you abuse the credit card, the drawbacks can be overwhelming. If you are considering a credit card, make sure that you pick the RIGHT card for you. Look around, see what is out there, and of course, ask your credit union what they suggest is right for you.

If you are in college, or if you think you might spend more than you can afford, a share secured credit card from your credit union may be the best option. Share secured simply means that the money already exists in your account, so the credit union doesn't have to worry about not getting repaid for the money they are lending you.

Credit unions offer credit cards that can earn you points. For every dollar spent, you can earn a minimum of 1 point. As your points add up, you are able to use them for airline travel, or for merchandise. By offering points, you are encouraged to use your card for purchases. Of course, the more you spend, the more you earn, but be careful not to spend more than you can afford to pay back. To maintain a good credit score, keep the spending percentage on your card as low as possible. So, stay as far away from the credit card's max as possible!
