Young & Free Maine Update

There’s a lot going on in Young & Free land. From our major music contest to a super fun sporting event at the end of the week, here’s what’s going on with Young & Free Maine over the next few days.

Sound Off

It’s Sound Off time! The contest launched a little over a week ago and we already have several entries. If you want a chance to take the title of Sound Off champion, there is still plenty of time to enter!

Are you a band or solo act looking to bust out of the garage and have your music heard by music fans all over the state? All you need to do is submit an original song via YouTube video or sound file using the entry form. Sound Off is in its second year so we’ve made it bigger and better than the last, with more prizes and more chances to have your music heard.

The first place winner will walk away with a $1000 gift certificate to Main Street Music Studios in Bangor for a recording session and a chance to perform on stage at KahBang! The second place winner will also perform at KahBang and the third place winner will be featured in a special video interview on YoungFreeMaine.com

Check out the contest page for more details and to enter. Be sure to check out our current entries while you’re there!

Maine Red Claws

This Friday night I’ll join the Maine Red Claws as they take on Iowa Energy in Portland. Myself and a few volunteers will help with a 50/50 raffle to raise money for Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. Want to go to the game? I’ll be giving away some tickets to the event over on Twitter. Be sure to follow YoungFreeME for a chance to win.

Ahead of Friday’s game I’ll be sitting down with Red Claws player Xavier Silas for a special interview. Xavier joined the Red Claws last fall after playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s the son of former NBA player James Silas and has made a name for himself in the world of professional basketball. Xavier has over 80,000 Twitter followers thanks to his inspirational quotes. Do you have a question for Xavier? Send them over on Facebook or Twitter and I’ll be sure to include them in the interview. The video will be posted next month as part of my Young & Free On the Road segment.

Stay connected with all things Young & Free Maine on Facebook, Twitter and now, Instagram!

Here’s to a busy and fun week. Enjoy it, everyone!
